16th Annual Crab Banquets

This ain't NO Crab Feed…

Imagine this. You are greeted at the door and then escorted to your table by local fire department personnel. You are seated at your table, which is beautifully decorated with linen tablecloths and china plates. Wonderful music is playing. Soon, your wine steward and your table servers show up to attend to your every need. This is just the beginning of an elegant six-course dinner that includes complimentary wine, fresh crab with drawn butter and arguably the best clam chowder you have ever eaten. Want more? How about a real party atmosphere with a live band and people dancing to every song? And that's not all folks! There are exciting auctions and raffle prizes offered throughout the evening. And you enjoy it all even more, knowing that the proceeds from everything will be going to the Pioneer Volunteer Firefighter's Association (PVFA) for the support of the Pioneer Fire District as well as a small portion to the local schools.

And you do NOT have to get dressed up! In fact, because the PVA Crab Banquet(s) are served in the ambiance of the chilly barrel rooms of the Skinner and Perry Creek Wineries, the evening's attire is your most comfortable dancing shoes and layers of warm clothing that you shed as you start dancing!

This year's will be held at Perry Creek Winery on Jan. 11th and 18th, and at the Skinner Winery on Jan 25th and Feb.1st. Both wineries are located in Fairplay, approximately 30 minutes from Placerville and Jackson. This is an event you do not want to miss!

Additional information and the option for buying tickets for the event are available by calling (530) 306-4852 or at

Sierra Vista Vineyards & Winery
39 Years of Excellence

Sierra Vista winery was born when John and Barbara MacCready planted their first block of Cabernet Sauvignon in 1974. Nearly four decades later, Sierra Vista offers a wide range of varietals, all grown in vineyards above 2800 feet in the Pleasant Valley region. The wines of France's Rhone Valley inspire much of Sierra Vista's production.

Higher elevations provide an ideal environment for producing excellent wine grapes. Cool nights and moderate daytime temperatures allow Sierra Vista's grapes to develop deep flavors and excellent sugar balance. Volcanic soils, clean mountain air and a long growing season impart a special richness to all Sierra Vista offerings. 2013 should be an exceptional vintage. The mild late summer and early fall weather allowed enough time for picking each block at its optimum ripeness.

Sierra Vista was the first winery in Pleasant Valley in the modern era, but Pleasant Valley's wine heritage runs deep into California's Past. The Tiger Lily Winery began production nearby in the mid-1850s and burned down in the 1890s. Tiger Lily was the largest of several 19th century wineries in the region. Sierra Vista is proud to honor Pleasant Valley's heritage with a new Tiger Lily commemorative label on several of our wines.

We invite you to visit Sierra Vista Winery and taste some of our exceptional wines. Many of our vines are over 30 years old now, and, with this maturity, they are producing wonderful wine grapes. We have a comfortable, grassy picnic area with a view of the Crystal Range to the east. Bring some cheese, buy a bottle of wine and enjoy the view that gave our winery its name. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you find the best wine pairing for any food or occasion.

We invite you to Sierra Vista's Chili and Chocolate Holiday Celebration. Barbara's famous chili will take center stage once again. Reward your palette with our award-winning wines and decedent chocolate pairings. This is a marvelous way to start your holiday season.

Local artists and vendors will be here to help you get a jump-start on the holiday shopping season. This is a time to think of others, so don't forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy for our Toys for Tots box!
